Welcome to RESWAYE.

#recyclewithreswaye

Founded in 2019 by a team passionate about the environment and community empowerment, RESWAYE (RECYCLING SCHEME FOR WOMEN AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT) is a pioneering initiative committed to combating plastic pollution and fostering economic empowerment in Nigeria. Our unique approach focuses on engaging women and youth aged 16 and above in the collection, aggregation, and recycling of plastic waste, to address the pressing issue of plastic pollution in coastal areas, starting with Lagos State.

Since our inception, RESWAYE has empowered over 4,000 women and youths through recycling business training and startup kits, and our initiatives have led to the collection of over 573,783kg of waste across 41 communities, reducing environmental degradation and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable environment.

In addition to our recycling efforts, RESWAYE is actively involved in community engagement and support initiatives. We have distributed over 10,500 food support packages and 5,000 packs of care kits to children, youths, and women in various communities.

Looking ahead, RESWAYE is dedicated to expanding our impact and reaching more communities in Nigeria’s coastal regions. By strengthening partnerships with local governments, businesses, and waste collectors, we aim to capture 90% of the recycler market by 2025.

Founder

Doyinsola Ogunye.

Doyinsola Ogunye founded the Recycling Scheme for Women and Youth Empowerment (RESWAYE). She received her schooling at the famous University of Lagos. She subsequently went on to attend Nigerian Law School, where she was called to the bar.

She created RESWAYE to support sustainable communities by focusing on waste management measures such as recycling, packaging, and marine litter reduction.

The thought that climate-conscious children will one day become adults who actively protect the environment is one of the guiding principles behind Ogunye’s climate activism and why she launched the nonprofit organisation Mental and Environmental Development for Children (MEDIC).

I am passionate about my job, my role, and how it has inspired so many people, even people I don’t know.
